PDO THREADS POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS
First 24–48 hours
-
Keep your head elevated: Prop your head up with pillows while resting or sleeping to minimize swelling.
-
Apply cold compresses: Use an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the treated area for 10–15 minutes, several times a day, to reduce swelling and bruising.
-
No touching or massaging: Do not touch, rub, or apply any pressure to your face to avoid displacing the threads.
-
Limit facial movements: Restrict excessive facial expressions, such as wide yawning or laughing, for at least 24–48 hours.
-
Avoid certain products: Refrain from applying makeup or skincare products for at least 12–48 hours.
-
Be gentle when washing: Wash your face gently and avoid scrubbing the treated area for at least 12 hours.
-
Take pain medication: Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is generally recommended for any discomfort. Avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen for the first few days, as they can increase bruising and affect collagen production.
First 4 weeks
-
Sleep on your back: Continue to sleep exclusively on your back for at least one week to prevent pressure on the threads.
-
Avoid strenuous exercise: Refrain from heavy lifting and high-impact activities for 1–2 weeks, as this can increase blood pressure and cause threads to shift.
-
Postpone dental work: Avoid dental procedures that require opening your mouth wide for at least two weeks.
-
Eat soft foods: Sticking to a diet of soft foods for the first few days can help avoid excessive chewing and facial movement, especially if threads were placed in the lower face.
-
No saunas or heat: Avoid saunas, hot tubs, or any intense heat that could cause additional swelling.
-
Limit sun exposure: Stay out of direct, intense sunlight and avoid tanning beds for at least one week.
-
Avoid alcohol and smoking: Abstain from alcohol and nicotine for at least two weeks, as they can interfere with the healing process.
-
Be careful with skincare: When resuming your skincare routine, use gentle cleansers and moisturizers. Avoid harsh products, exfoliation, and facial scrubs for at least three weeks.
